Alex Uribe

Artist Bio

Be it a figure, an abstract or simple vessel, the creation of his art work enlists the complexity of form & surface.

The visible history of the material, his own emotional connections, and the various processes of fabricating, are the raw elements that constitute the substance of the work.

The experiment with perception stretch the possibilities of the material in infinite directions.

Artist Statement

To approach more traditional subjects, I use an accumulative process of primarily glue and  torn cardboard, but also driftwood, roofing felt and various other reclaimed materials.

The recycling of these mediums for sculpture accomplishes the revitalization of the element, simultaneously stimulating my creativity.

These works vibrate with tension between traditional form and unconventional material & method.
